Walt Disney Studios buys India’s satellite giant Star Network

American studio giant, Walt Disney Studios bought India’s media giant Star TV network. Disney has already acquired 21st Century Fox a few months ago.

As per the deal, Disney also got rights over Star Network by closing a deal for $ 71 billion with Fox.

With this, Disney got rights over Fox subsidiaries like Twentieth Century Fox, Fox Searchlight, Fox 2000 pictures, Fox Family and Fox Animations and all the channels that are under the control of Star India.

Disney gold hold of Tata Sky and Endemol Shine Group with this deal. Disney gets a major boost with this acquisition and is planning to take on streaming services like Netflix and Hulu.

Bob Iger, Disney’s Chairman-CEO expressed happiness over the deal and said: “Combining Disney’s and 21st Century Fox’s wealth of creative content and proven talent creates the pre-eminent global entertainment company, well positioned to lead in an incredibly dynamic and transformative era.”
