Vajpayee daughter visits Smriti Stal to collect ashes to immerse in 100 rivers across India

Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s daughter Namita and granddaughter Niharika visited Smriti Stal in Delhi to collect former Prime Minister Vajpayee’s ashes that will be immersed in 100 rivers across India.

Vajpayee’s ashes will be taken to Prem Ashram and then to Har-ki-Pauri in Haridwar of Uttarakhand by road. His ashes will be immersed in 100 rivers in different parts of the country including Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Odisha, West Bengal, Punjab and Telangana. The immersion of ashes will begin with Ganga at Haridwar on Sunday.

Vajpayee daughter collects ashes for immersion ceremony (ANI/ Bihari Vajpayee’s funeral was held at Smriti Stal on August 17 after he took his last breath on August 16 evening. He battled with life for a week. He was cremated with full state honours.

The immersion ceremony of Vajpayee’s ashes at Haridwar will be attended by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Uttarakhand counterpart Trivendra Singh Rawat among others.

Bhupendra Yadav, BJP national general secretary said: “His (Vajpayee’s) ashes will be immersed in various sacred rivers across the country and the ‘asthi kalash’ taken to all the districts headquarters and state capitals. Prayer meetings will take place in the state capitals, district headquarters and at the panchayat level”.

An all-party meeting for BJP stalwart will be held on August 20 in Delhi and on August 23 in Lucknow.
