In his speech on Tuesday at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Guadalajara, Mexico, Elon Musk gave complete details of his ‘Visit Mars’ plan for non-astronomers.

Elon Musk said: “I want to make Mars seem possible, something we can do in our life times… and that anyone can go if they wanted too.”

Musk’s Mars colonization plans will have a fully reusable transportation system which would be capable of carrying 100 people. Initially the transportation system would take 80 days to reach Mars but it could be brought down to 30 days after further research and development.

The Mars transportation system from Elon Musk and his company SpaceX talks about using methane and oxygen available in Earth orbit available in both Earth and Mars orbits to refuel its spaceship.

Likely to be named as ‘The Heart of Gold’, the first ever Mars spacecraft will be launched from the NASA’s Kennedy Space Centre pad 39, the same launchpad that was used for Apollo Moon missions.
