Six persons of family drown in Ganga River near Patna

Six persons belonging to a family including four minors drowned in Ganga River today at Maranchi village in Patna district.

All of them went to the Ganga River to take a bath when one or two persons of the family slipped into the deep waters. Other family members drowned to save them and made their efforts but in vain.

All the six bodies have been fished out of the Ganga River.

Nitish Kumar, Bihar Chief Minister expressed his grief for the family and also spoke to other persons of the deceased family over the phone. He also directed the Patna district magistrate to make necessary arrangements to make immediate payment of ex-gratia to the next of the kin of victims.

The Patna District Magistrate said that an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh would be paid to the next of the kin of the victims today itself.
