Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ivanka Trump, daughter of US President Donald Trump will inaugurate and address the Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017 today in Hyderabad.
Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2017 is being hosted for the first time in the South East Asia by the Indian government and the US government which is being organized with a theme “Women First, Prosperity for All”.
Amitabh Kant, NITI Aayog CEO called for providing greater impetus to women entrepreneurs which is essential for India’s growth a day before the GES start. He said: “The summit comes at a time when the government is working on several initiatives to empower women in India, such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and others.
This summit will witness women taking centre-stage on all fronts, including panel discussions. This summit has a majority of women participation (52.5percent), with over 10 countries being led by all-women delegation,”. He said this at a joint press conference with US Ambassador to India Kenneth Juster.
He added: “This year’s summit theme demonstrates the commitment of both Washington and New Delhi to empowering women in the belief that communities and countries thrive as a result”.
He also opinioned that women entrepreneurs would drive innovation and job creation and also assists in addressing the world’s most critical challenges.
Narendra Modi will inaugurate the GES which will be attended by Ivanka Trump who reached Hyderabad during early morning hours on Nov 28.
In the GES 2017, many leading female voices will speak at various plenaries, breakout sessions, master classes and workshops. Other celebrities who will attend the Summit are Sania Mirza, Diana Louise Patricia Layfield, Google’s Vice President of Next Billion Users and Roya Mahboob, CEO of Afghan Citadesl Software Company.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Telangana Chef Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Ivanka trump will address the GES inaugural session. After this a sessions will be moderated by John Chambers, Chairman Emeritus, Cisco.
Ivanka Trump, Sibongile Sambo, Managing Director of SRS Aviation and SRS Petroleum and Marcus Wallenberg, the Chairman of Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB) will participate in the GES 2017 Hyderabad.
Ivanka Trump will also take part in the discussion on increasing women in the workforce through skills training, education and mentorship on the second day of GES 2017.
Innovators in workforce development and training will discuss on what works and what can be done to open doors for women at the workplace.
The closing session of GES will bring together key influencers who support, promote and fund women entrepreneurs.
The panelists of GES will share efforts to advance women in leadership positions and also ensure that women will have seats at the table and also to break down the barriers that affect women’s ability to start and grow businesses.
The panel discussion will have a theme ‘Women Win, We All Win: Promoting Inclusive Environments for Women Entrepreneurs” moderated by Commerce and Industry Minister Suresh Prabhu.
The GES 2017 also introduced a mobile application to enable seamless networking among registered delegates who will take part in the Summit. They are also provided with a wearable device interlinked with the mobile application for use during and after the summit.
As of now, 1500 delegates downloaded the app and 20,000 profiles have been viewed, 4000 messages and 6000 business cards have been exchanged and 500 meetings have already been set up.
Nirmala Sitharaman, Defence Minister and Sushma Swaraj, External Affairs Minister will attend the summit.
