Jallikattu latest news : In the midst of massive Jallikattu protests supporting the bull sport, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday. The Tamil Nadu CM requested Modi to put in place an ordinance on Jallikattu.
The Indian PM Modi told him that while the Centre will provide them support, the matter is sub-judice. Panneerselvam met Modi in Delhi on Thursday.
“The ban imposed on Jallikattu by the Supreme Court came up for discussion. While appreciating the cultural significance of Jallikattu, the Prime Minister observed that the matter is presently sub-judice,” the Prime Minister’s Office tweeted after Modi’s meeting.
“The Centre would be supportive of steps taken by the State Government,” the PMO added.
After his meeting with Modi, Panneerselvam told reporters, “I have asked Prime Minister to promulgate an emergency ordinance allowing Jallikattu.”
“The state government will take necessary action in coordination with the central government to hold Jallikattu. The state government’s action in relation with Jallikattu would soon be seen.
“The Prime Minister said the central government will support the state government’s action on Jallikattu as there is a case pending in the court,” he added.

As per the Jallikattu latest news, Panneerselvam also revealed that he and the AIADMK chief Sasikala had written to PM Modi over the issue of Jallikattu.
It may be recalled that back in May 2014 the Supreme Court banned Jallikattu, stating that bulls cannot be used as performing animals even in bullock-cart races.
