West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that she will not be attending Narendra Modi swearing ceremony by citing political violence.
She said it as: “an august occasion to celebrate democracy, not one that should be devalued by any political party”.
Mamata said that she accepted the ceremonial invitation but due to gross representation of facts about 54 deaths in poll violence, she decided not to attend the ceremony.
She tweeted about the violence that there were no political murders in Bengal and the deaths may be due to personal enmity, family quarrel and other disputes and not related to politics.
She added that these events compelled her not to attend Narendra Modi swearing in ceremony.
