Lion Air Plane crashes into sea after take-off from Jakarta

Lion Air Plane crashed into sea shortly after take-off from Jakarta airport on Monday morning. The Indonesian authorities have started search and rescue operation.

Lio Air Plane with flight number JT-610 took off from Jakarta airport at 6:20 AM local time and it lost contact with air traffic controllers at around 6:33 AM. The flight Boeing 7373 was originally scheduled to arrive at Pangkal Pinang at 7:20 AM. Later it was confirmed from the Indonesia’s search and rescue agency that the plane crashed into sea.

Jakarta-based Elshinta radio reported that a tugboat noticed Tanjung Priol sea port’s Vessel Traffic Service that it spotted a plane plunging into water on Monday morning.

The number of passengers and crew in the plane is not clear yet.
