La Tuna Canyon Fire Update : 800 firefighters battle brush fire in Los Angeles County

La Tuna Canyon Fire Update : The La Tuna fire in Los Angeles County continues to worry authorities even as number of firefighters has swelled to 800 while the acreage under damage is closing towards 6,000 acres.

At 10:00 PM on Saturday, the Los Angeles Fire Department had reported that the brush fire containment remained a 10% leaving plenty of work to be done to bring back normalcy.

The agency revealed that a couple of firefighters engaged in dousing the La Tuna fire were shifted out of the scene with dehydration. They have recovered and are said to be in stable condition.

So far no major civilian injuries have been reported in the Los Angeles brush fire incident. However, an old male patient was rescued from a 3-storey building that was on fire. He was transported to a hospital, but his condition has been reported by the LAFD to be serious.

Earlier in the day, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti had declared a local emergency after calling the La Tuna Canyon fire as the biggest fire incident in the city history.

On early Sunday morning, a flare up was reported forcing the authorities to issue fresh evacuation orders for some parts of the Castleman Lane and Burbank Estates area.

The authorities are also making arrangements to rescue animals, small and big from the scenes of the La Tuna fire. Small animals are being taken in at all evacuation centers while larger animals given shelter at the Hansen Dam.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Police have commended the job being done by all the first responders in containing the La Tuna Canyon fire saying that it is because of their efforts that there has been no loss of life and injuries as of now.

In another update about the La Tuna fire, LAFD Talk has tweeted: “Don’t fall victim to scammers saying they are raising money for “the firefighters” via crowdfunding sources We are not in need.”
