Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy flagged off first six coach Metro on Green Line between Nagasandra and Yelachenahalli at Mantri Square Metro Station at Malleswaram on Monday.
The first coach will be reserved for women passengers. By introducing six-coach train, it will help passengers during peak hours.
The extra three coaches can accommodate atleast 1000 passengers and prevent pushing at the station and possible accidents.
This is the first Metro with six coaches which is running between Nagasandra and Yelachenahalli. Six coach trains were earlier introduced between Byyappanahalli and Nayandahalli Metro stations on East West Corridor.
More six-coach trains will be introduced on Green Line in Bengaluru. By this the carrying capacity of the Metro train doubles during each trip.
Kumaraswamy spoke about the death of 18-month old child who slipped and died at the Srirampuram Metro Station that there were lapses on the part of Metro. He added that parents and caretakers should be careful with their children at the Metro Stations.
He said that he has directed Metro authorities to be alert and to ensure safety measures.
