The Telangana CM KCR said that once the Hyderabad Metro Rail project is up and running, it would play a part in bringing down the traffic problems in the twin cities.

Hyderabad Metro Train Work Deadline is Aug 2018

KCR directed officials that the Miyapur-LB Nagar main section of the Hyderabad Metro train project to be completed by November next year.

As far as the remainder of the Hyderabad Metro train work is concerned, the CM wanted it to be wrapped up by August 2018.

Since the monsoon which saw heavier rains than usual, Hyderabad has been facing serious traffic woes with most of the main roads in a bad shape, slowing down vehicles and creating jams. Add to that, the Hyderabad Metro Rail project which appears to be going at snail’s pace.

It can be seen that most of the main roads in the city have been occupied by the Hyderabad Metro Train related structures, leaving narrower spaces for hundreds of vehicles from bikes to busses to move through.

Now following the review meeting chaired by CM KCR, one thing is sure that the people will have to bear with traffic congestion till 2018 which is when the Hyderabad Metro trains are likely to run from.

Hyderabad already has an intra-city train facility in the Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) which is run in partnership between the Telangana government and the South Central Railway. Although many citizens use the MMTS trains to commute, it hasn’t significantly brought down the traffic levels on the roads, also caused by a rapid population growth with Hyderabad becoming a major IT hub in the country.
