Huge explosion near Italy’s Bologna airport kills 2, injures 60

Atleast 2 people were killed and 60 others were injured when two trucks collided on a motorway near Bologna airport in northern Italy on Monday.

The pictures showed a huge ball of fire and black smoke soaring into the sky at the place of the incident.

As per the police reports, they had shut down the road where the collision of trucks took place along with the surrounding area in Borgo Panigale, on the outskirts of Italy’s Bologna.

According to the reports from Italian media, a lorry carrying cars collided with another tanker lorry with inflammable materials in it on a motorway bridge.

A part of the bridge collapsed after explosion took place and fire spread to a carpark below the bridge where many other parked vehicles caught fire and exploded.

The explosion took place near Borgo Paginale close to the Bologna airport at around 12:00 GMT and the cause of the blast is not known.

Italian fire services posted a video on twitter that shows black smoke from the truck going into the sky and other photo showed burning cars in adjacent car park.
