Gurjar community calls for 5% reservation, warns of agitation if demand not fulfilled

Sawai Madhopur (Rajasthan), Jan 28 (ANI): A mahapanchayat was called by the Gurjar community in Rajasthan’s Sawai Madhopur. A demand by the community was expressed related to reservation.

The Gurjar community called for a 5 percent reservation. Col (Retd) Kirori Singh Bainsla a member of the mahapanchayat urged the community members for agitation in the absence of reservation. He also emphasised that due to worse condition of the community, there is indeed a need for reservation.

He said, “The government gave 10 percent reservation to the upper cast people. We are struggling for reservation for 14 years but the High Court dismissed our pleas. If the upper cast can get 10 percent reservation then why not we? Are you ready for agitation?”

He added, “Either the government gives us 5% reservation in another 11 days, or there will be an agitation.”
