Elon Musk reveals plan to use Mars rocket for intercity transport on Earth

Business tycoon Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX has revealed his plans to use the aerospace company and space transport services company’s BFR Rocket intended to travel to Planet Mars for dispatching passengers from New York to Shanghai in just 39 minutes.

The same rocket destined to go to Mars can be used for making a trip from Los Angeles to New York, or Los Angeles to Honolulu in just 25 minutes, said Elon Musk at the International Astronautical Congress in Adelaide. Musk said that by his rocket, people can fly from London to Dubai in 29 minutes to stress that rocket travel between two cities anywhere in the world can be completed in less than an hour.

Later on his Instagram page, Elon Musk said that a seat on the rocket for earth transportation would cost nearly as much as a full-fare economy flight ticket.

In this regard, Elon Musk released a video which shows people boarding a ship to reach a rocket base located offshore. The rocket is shown to take off and travel into space, along the earth’s orbit before landing down to an offshore platform at the destined location.

Last year around this time, Elon Musk unveiled his vision of establishing a human colony on Mars. The SpaceX founder said that he could send 100 people to the Red Planet at a ticket price of $200,000.

Elon Musk plans for the Mars mission is for 2022 which would involve an 80-day trip to Mars and a return trip of as many days back to Earth.
