Delhi MCD Elections 2017 results : Venkaiah Naidu hits back at AAP’s faulty EVM claims

Union Minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Information and Broadcasting, M Venkaiah Naidu reacting to allegations of EVM tampering in the Delhi MCD polls 2017 shot back at the AAP saying the same EVMs brought them to power in Delhi in 2015.

“It (AAP) is finding excuse for their defeat in EVMs. These were the same EVMs which had given them 67 of 70 seats in the Assembly election. That time it was fine but now you have lost, there is problem with EVMs,” Venkaiah Naidu told reporters in a PTI report.

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had earlier claimed EVMs were manipulated as the Delhi MCD Elections 2017 results came in.

Venkaiah Naidu felt the Delhi MCD Elections results 2017 were a “clear punishment” for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for indulging in “negative politics”.

The BJP leader advised the AAP government to start focusing on the development and welfare of the people of Delhi, alleging that since Arvind Kejriwal became the chief minister, he abdicated his responsibility towards Delhiites by “taking advantage of the emerging vacuum in opposition space”.

On the massive victory of the BJP in the Delhi MCD Elections 2017, Venkaiah Naidu said, “Intelligent people of Delhi have seen through this negative tactics of the Kejriwal government and taught his party a befitting lesson.”

The AAP paid a heavy price for “its arrogance, ambition and misplaced priorities”, the minister added.

The PTI report informed that Venkaiah Naidu later went to Delhi BJP office and congratulated the workers and leaders of the state party unit. This included the Delhi president Manoj Tiwari.

Venkaiah Naidu concluded saying the Centre, the state and the urban local bodies must work together for speedy development of Delhi.
