Colorado deputy killed, six others injured in shooting incident in Denver

Shooting incident in Denver : A Colorado deputy was killed while six others were shot at by a gunman in an apartment complex outside Denver on Sunday morning.

The gunman was eventually shot and killed, stated the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Before that the gunman had shot at three other Douglas County Deputies, one Castle Rock Police Department Officer along with two civilians apart from taking the life of a 29-year-old Colorado deputy named Zackari Parrish.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office refused to disclose the details of the gunman as of now.

It was an ambush type of attack on the cops by the gunman who launched the attack from a bedroom. The shooting incident in Denver started at about 5:15 AM.

A couple of hours before that, the cops were called in to attend on a disturbance case in the apartments which involved heated argument between two males.

Responding to another call from the same Copper Canyon Apartments in Highlands Ranch, Douglas County, Colorado, deputies who had arrived at the scene this time were targeted with gunshots.

Deputy Zackari Parrish lost his life while his colleagues just managed to save themselves. It was only at about 7:30 AM that SWAT which was called into action could end the ordeal by killing the gunman but not before the suspect had fired well over hundred rounds.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the deceased cop has been in service for nearly seven months at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. Prior to that, he had worked at the Castle Rock Police Department for 2.5 years.

The late Zackari Parrish is survived by his wife and two small kids.

US President Donald Trump, commenting on the shooting incident in Denver, tweeted: “My deepest condolences to the victims of the terrible shooting in Douglas County @dcsheriff, and their families.”
