Chennai man killed when trying to take photo of lightning with smart phone

In a shocking incident, a Chennai man was killed while trying to take a picture of lightning on mobile when he was on his visit to a friend’s shrimp farm.

The man identified as HM Ramesh aged 43 years was hit by lightning, while he was trying to take  a photo. The Tiruvallur district police warned people not to take photos of lightning. He belongs to Thiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu and died on Wednesday as he tried to take a photo of lightning in the sky on his mobile phone. His deceased body was recovered from a friend’s shrimp farm in Sunnampukkulam.

At around 3:30 PM Ramesh tried to take a photo of lightning with his smartphone camera but, lightning struck him and collapsed immediately. His friends tried to pick him up, but they found injuries in his face and chest.

Arambakkam police sent Ramesh’s body to the Ponneri Government hospital for autopsy. He was survived by his wife Uma aged 38 and daughter Zia aged 13.
