BJP president Amit Shah to contest from Gandhinagar, replaces LK Advani

BJP president Amith Shah replaced LK Advani to contest from Gandhi nagar for the Lok Sabha election while PM Narendra Modi will contest from Varanasi.

BJP announced its first list of 184 candidates for the general election on Thursday. Home Minister Rajnath Singh will contest from Lucknow and road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari will contest from Nagpur.

JP Nadda, Senior BJP leader released the list at a press conference on the auspicious day of Holi after three meetings of its central election committee.

Union Minister Smriti Irani will contest from Amethi and battles with Congress president Rahul Gandhi.

Dropping of 91 year old party leader LK Advani is the biggest surprise in the first list where Amith Shah will be making his debut in Gandhinagar. LK Advani has been representing Gandhinagar since 1998 in which Amith Shah is his poll manager in initial elections.

BJP announced names of its 28 candidates from Uttar Pradesh, six incumbent MPs were dropped including Union minister Krishna Raj from Shahjahanpur and SC Commission head and Agra MP Ram Shankar Katheria.
