Bengaluru crime news: Teenage girl gang-raped in lodge for 10 days, accused arrested

In a shocking incident in Bengaluru, a teenage girl was kidnapped and raped by four persons at a lodge for ten days.

The Bengaluru police rescued the girl on November 4 and arrested the four men who are involved in the gang-rape under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly kidnapping and gang-raping the teenage girl for ten days.

The three among the accused persons were in the age group of 22 to 25 years and are friends. The fourth accused person is 55 year old man who is a lodge operator.

The primary accused person in this case is a man who runs a tea shop at Whitefield and he befriended the girl and took her to the lodge on October 26. He committed the crime at that time.

The teenage girl’s father filed a missing case to search for the girl on October 30 with KR Puram police.

The victim is a 17 year old PU student and she left the college on October 26 having told her parents that she would visit her friend’s house for a party after finishing college. The girl went to her friend’s house and stayed there for two days.

The girl was standing near Kadugodi Railway Station on October 28 when a familiar person Raghavendra aged 27 years allegedly tempted her and took her to a lodge in Whitefield.

The girl’s parents were worried as she did not return home even after four days and inquired her friend. They came to know from her daughter’s friend that she left the home on October 28 itself. So they lodged a missing complaint on October 30 at KR Puram police.

Raghavendra after taking her to lodge, he raped along with his two friends Sagar aged 22 years and Manu Raj aged 32 years.

Afterwards, the lodge owner, Manoranjan Pandit aged 52 years also joined them and raped the girl. The KR police formed a team to search for the missing girl after getting a complaint from her father.

While carrying out the investigation, the police came to know that the girl was in the lodge. The police then raided the lodge on November 4 and rescued the girl from one of the rooms. The police later caught the accused on the basis of the complaint filed by the girl.

The accused persons were booked under IPC Sections 376D (gang rape) 368 (wrongfully concealing or keeping in confinement, kidnapped or abducted person), 363 (kidnapping), 343 (wrongful confinement if any person for three days, or more), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) 506 (criminal intimidation) along with Sections 4 and 6 of POSCO Act.
