AP CM Chandrababu Naidu launches AP Purse app for cashless transactions

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu launched a payment mobile app named AP Purse in Vijayawada on Tuesday amid the prevailing cash crunch situation across India.

The virtual AP Purse app features 13 mobile banking and 10 mobile wallets intended to pay bills online through smartphones conveniently.

Chandrababu Naidu speaking on the AP Purse app launch insisted that people should use mobile banking and cashlesss transactions to overcome the present situation caused by demonetization.

He also announced that the AP government will initiate a program called Marpu Nestam which will have agents helping out the not-so tech savvy citizens to learn and use mobile banking and payment systems.

The Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu said: “The government is introducing Marpu Nestam, an agent, to educate the people on digital financial literacy. The government will pay incentives to the agents who train the people in digital financial literacy.”

Marpu Nestam will involve engineering students who would be encouraged with incentives from the government to teach people about cashless transactions on their mobiles and smartphones.

Naidu added that Marpu Nestam will help the engineering students in earning extra bucks while continuing their regular educations. The AP government would reward them suitably for their services to the public in the prevailing financial crisis.

Meanwhile, a meeting will be held in Mumbai on December 8 featuring the committee of Chief Ministers who will be discussing digital payment systems as well as financial inclusion among other things.

Chandrababu Naidu informed the press during the AP Purse app launch that the December 8 CMs meeting will feature addressing of the problems faced by the citizens following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s shocking demonetization move. It would also have discussions on the alternative solutions to tackle the currency problems, said Naidu.

The AP CM said that his government has been working hard to solve the ongoing cash crisis besides giving hope that things will soon improve.
