Andhra man among three killed in Cincinnati bank shooting

In an unfortunate incident, a 25 year old Andhra man was killed when a gunman opened fire at the headquarters for the Fifth Third Bank near Fountain Square in Cincinnati.

The other two victims who were shot dead are identified as Luis Felipe Calderon aged 48 and Richard Newcomer aged 64.

The Andhra man is identified as Pruthviraj Kandepi who hailed from Guntur district. Two other persons were also killed in the Cincinnati bank shooting. Police shot the attacker dead on Thursday.

The attacker is identified as Omar Enrique Santa Perez aged 29 years from the town of North Bend, Ohio and he opened fire in downtown Cincinnati.

Pruthviraj Kandepi was working as a consultant with the bank as said by an official of the Telugu Association of North America.

India’s Consul General in New York Ambassador Sandeep Chakravorty said that the Consulate is in touch with the police, Pruthviraj’s family and community members. He said that arrangements are being made to send his body to India.

The gunman opened fire several times and five people were shot in the incident. Cincinnati Police Chief Eliot Isaac got a 911 call at around 9:10 AM local time about an active shooter at the bank. Police fired the gunman several times as four police officers approached him and he died on the spot.

The gunman was having a pistol and more than 200 rounds of ammunition and he was not an employee of the bank in the past or present. He went to many businesses before he opened fire at the bank.

He started firing in the building’s loading dock before he left to lobby area and fired more.
